Expression of interest - Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions Individual Fellowships


The Centre for Cultural Heritage Technologies encourages expressions of interest from qualified researchers interested in applying for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Individual Fellowships with the CCHT as hosting institution. Fellowships (24/36 months) fund innovative research projects proposed by the candidate. The grant covers for the salary of the researcher and expenses associated to the project. 

CCHT is seeking for candidates that can apply for: 

  • Standard European Fellowships: candidates of any nationality moving in from outside Italy; Italians residing abroad (in EU Member States, EU Associated Countries or Third Countries) are included. 
  • Global Fellowships: candidates that are national or long-term residents of an EU State or Associated Country (fellowship includes a 12/24 months outgoing phase in a third country and a mandatory 12-month return period at the Centre). 

The Centre will accept applications related to its expertise in the following domains: 

  • Machine Learning/AI applications to Cultural Heritage, especially linked to: remote sensing, ancient documents deciphering and transcription, and artefact identifications;
  • Computer vision/photogrammetry: 3D scanning of Cultural Heritage and Image improvement;
  • Robotics in Cultural Heritage (automation of scanning procedures, survey);
  • Nanotechnologies and protective coatings for Cultural Heritage;
  • Advanced material characterisation and diagnostics, archaeometry;
  • Technologies to counter looting and trafficking of Cultural Heritage.


CCHT invites applications from promising scholars eager to work in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment. Applicants must have a compelling track record appropriate to their career stage including eg: peer-reviewed publications, competitive funding acquisition, conference invitations or other indicators of accomplishments.  On deadline, candidates must be in possession of a doctoral degree and have ideally four years’ full-time equivalent research experience.  Candidates have to comply with the following mobility rules: 

  • Standard European Fellowships: researcher cannot have resided or carried out his/her main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Italy for more than 12 months in the three years before the call deadline. 
  • Global Fellowships: researcher cannot have resided or carried out his/her main activity in the Third Country where the outgoing phase takes place for more than 12 months in the three years before the call deadline.

  • Cover letter including confirmation of the eligibility  
  • CV (max.2 pages) 
  • Project outline, describing the research environment required and training needed to achieve the project goals (max.2 pages)
